In this episode Mary Schaeffer, AP Now founder and podcast host, discusses the genesis of her new book along with tips for every organization and their accounts payable function post-COVID-19. She began by sharing information about her activities running weekly events during the crisis for anyone interested in accounts payable issues. AP Now was joined in this endeavor by the AP Association, a global organization headquartered in the UK. She also participated in weekly online meetings with the AP Association’s AP Influencer group.

She began making a list of tasks that best practice accounts payable teams would have to do upon returning to work. The list soon became quite long and evolved into a 25-step action plan which formed the foundation for the book. This is backed up with best-practice business intelligence from AP Now, updated to reflect the realities of a post-COVID-19 world. The book also includes a section on remote working.

The podcast closes with several tips from the book. These are tasks the Schaeffer recommends every accounts payable group upon their return to the office, even if that return is virtual. She believes in preparing for the future and that means getting ready for the next time this happens, because it or something worse is likely to occur in our lifetime.
