  • Ep 1: What Is Flex-Based Personalized Learning?

Every student is unique, so why should every student's path through school look the same? In this first episode of APLUS+ Presents: EVERYTHING Flex-Based Learning, Jeff Rice, founder of APLUS+ (the Association of Personalized Learning Schools and Services), introduces the flex-based personalized learning model and explains why it's becoming more popular among parents and students.

Jeff contrasts the traditional one-size-fits-all classroom, a system designed more than 100 years ago for the industrial age, with a model where students, parents, and teachers build a tailored learning plan together. Students can choose how, what, when, where, and with whom they learn: working ahead in one subject, slowing down in another, and learning at home, at a resource center, or both.
