Apologies can be tricky. We often ask children to apologize and they learn to say the words but not change their actions. Saying I’m sorry so they can move on not so they can stop doing the things that required the apology leads to more of the same as adults.
As adults we see so many in the public eye and in our homes who say hurtful or disgraceful things and sometimes they apologize well and it’s heartfelt and other times they decide to be defensive and don’t want to dig in to learn what they did was wrong.
