To a lot of grammar-minded pedants the apostrophe is the be all and end all. Should we care what they think? Anyway, the apostrophe is a here today and gone tomorrow it of punctuation, isn't it? Would you prefer 'is not it"? 

The apostrophocalypse is not the end of the world. But this edition of Word Wrangling does give it a good going over.
