Home values are dropping.  It's time to look at the value of your house and determine if the tax rate is fair.  When values increase tax rates reflect those increases and go up.  The law states that they should go down when values drop.

For most counties, this is not an automatic adjustment.  Owners must petition to have their property tax rate adjusted for the lower value.
