Applanix LiDAR QC Tools designed to improve the accuracy of point cloud.

Listen Later

Applanix LiDAR QC Tools are a suite of software tools designed to improve the accuracy of point cloud data collected by LiDAR sensors. This is achieved by using a process called Point Cloud Data Adjustment (PCDA), which is based on Simultaneous Location and Mapping (SLAM) technology. PCDA essentially uses overlapping regions in the LiDAR data to refine the vehicle's trajectory and adjust the orientation of the LiDAR sensor. This results in a more consistent and accurate point cloud, even in challenging environments like urban areas or indoor spaces where GPS signals are weak or absent. The tools also include a feature for calibrating the boresight angles (the alignment between the LiDAR and the IMU). LiDAR QC Tools are hardware-agnostic and can be used for a variety of applications, including uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), land mobile mapping, and indoor surveys.
