After a year of anticipation, Apple have finally announced its 27” iMac with Retina 5K Display. It took less than an hour for both Frederick and Doug to jump on in with both feet and place their orders. Now that the wrapping paper has faded, and they've had a few weeks of living with their new toys — they can take a look at what they’ve bought with more objective eyes.
What does a 5K monitor mean for photographers? No surprise that it’s big and beautiful, but is it worth the extra cost? Should existing Mac users upgrade now or wait? And what about just waiting until external (non-integrated) 5K Retina displays are available? Are there any other alternatives? And for those who do make the jump, what’s the sweet-spot configuration?
And for the "image conscious" folks out there, don't miss Doug's blog post where he answers The Color Gamut Question.
