Redemption Hill Church Sermons

Appointed To Eternal Life Pt. 2 | World Without End

Listen Later

Acts 13:13-52: Paul's first recorded sermon in the Book of Acts. After arriving in Pisidian Antioch, Paul stands in the synagogue and preaches the gospel.

He traces redemptive history from Moses through David to John the Baptist, then connects it all to Jesus. "Of David's offspring, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, according to His promise.

"What's the message of salvation? Verses 30-32: "But God raised Him from the dead." The promise became news. The gospel isn't just instructions for life, it's a PERSON who did something for you and in your place.

"Through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by Him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.

"But Paul doesn't end with an altar call. He issues a stark warning from Habakkuk: "Beware lest what is said in the prophets should come about.

"Warnings are grace, not rejection. The whole city gathers. Some rejoice. Some revile.

And verse 48: "As many as were appointed to eternal life believed."
