Adam Shaffer is a former grade 4 elementary teacher, now working as a middle school teacher-librarian. He was awarded the Teacher of the Year award in his district for the 2019-2020 school year. Adam shares his story of how he transitioned into librarianship, spurned by his love of books and stories. He is passionate about reading and shares that passion with his students.
Teaching in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic has been incredibly challenging for teachers, Adam included, as the thing that brings teachers the most joy, working, engaging, and interacting with students, is not possible. Adam shares the difficulties he and other teachers have faced and the mindset he has needed to come to in order to maintain the joy and energy he receives from teaching in person.
