Midday Prayer for Tuesday in Week 2 of Easter, using the Current Psalmody
God, come to my assistance.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
HYMN
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
PSALMODY
Ant. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
Psalm 119:49-56
Remember your word to your servant
Though the proud may utterly deride me
I am seized with indignation at the wicked
I think of your name in the night-time
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
Psalm-prayer
Lord, you raise us up from our lowliness by giving us the hope of eternal life. May we always serve you in this our pilgrimage and come to enjoy the happiness of our home with you.
Psalm 53
The fool has said in his heart:
God looks down from heaven
All have left the right path,
Will the evil-doers not understand?
See how they tremble with fear
O that Israel’s salvation might come from Zion!
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
Psalm-prayer
Almighty Father, apart from you there is nothing true, nothing holy on earth. Dismiss our sins and give us strength in our weakness so that all who believe in your Son may rejoice in his glory.
Psalm 54:1-6, 8-9
O God, save me by your name;
For proud men have risen against me,
I will sacrifice to you with willing heart
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
Psalm-prayer
We humbly ask you, Father, to save us from every evil and trial on earth, that we may seek with our hearts and deeds our Lord and helper, Jesus Christ, whom we look to in the heavens.
Ant. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
READING See 1 Peter 3:21-22a
You are now saved by a baptismal bath. This baptism is no removal of physical stain, but the pledge to God of an irreproachable conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He went to heaven and is at God’s right hand.
