April 12, 2026 — Today is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day, which feels like one of those things that’s already perfect… but people keep experimenting with anyway.


Today we’re looking at a few moments where change takes shape—sometimes through redirection, sometimes through escalation, and sometimes through small adjustments that make a big difference.


First, the sack of Constantinople in 1204, where a mission shifted direction and changed history from within.


Then, the start of the American Civil War in 1861, when years of tension turned into open conflict.


And finally, the introduction of the catcher’s mask in 1877, a small change that reshaped how the game could be played.


Plus, a quick look at David Letterman, who changed the tone of late-night television by rethinking how it could work.


Different moments. Different outcomes. But each one shows how change doesn’t always come from outside forces—it often comes from shifts within.


Anyway… those are a few of the things I ended up discovering while wandering through April 12.
