Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.” John 14:6

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.  John 17:17

To avoid apostasy we have to see apostasy for what it is: Satan’s Goal for Every Believer

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.     1 Timothy 4:1

18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.        1 John 2:18-19

Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.       1 John 4:1-6

To avoid apostasy we have be able to discern false teachers from godly teachers

Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.     1 Timothy 4:2

To avoid apostasy we have be able to discern false teaching from godly teaching

They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.     1 Timothy 4:3

To avoid apostasy we have to be wise in the truth

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.     1 Timothy 4:4-5

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.       Ephesians 4:11-12
