Jesus has a view of God's future that is difficult to explain to those who refuse to see things any way but their own. The Sadducees deny the resurrection, and the Pharisees and Herodians are so mired in legalism that they want to define Jesus based on his interpretation of the law. It's a shame. If they had taken a moment to step away from that entrenched point of view, they might -- like the teacher in the last part of the passage -- have gotten closer to the Kingdom.
