Do you rest? Do you rest in the Lord? You can be free and still be restless. You can be free in Christ but never receive the rest that is promised you. The world tries to find rest everywhere it can but true rest is only found in one who created it. How do you rest? Let’s talk about it.
1. God’s Promise Still Stands
God has made promises to us about entering the rest He created for us and those promises still stand. It still stands for you, it still stands for me and it still stands on this side of life. We don’t have to wait till death to be able to Rest In His Peace. Broken spirits cry out for rest.
2. Slaves vs. Free
People often go back to their old bondages and addictions from their past because it’s easier to be a slave than it is to be free. When you’re a slave you just accept what is given to you but when you’re free you have to pursue life for yourself. The rest God has for us doesn’t require us to strive but it does require us to pursue his will.
3. His voice
If you don’t hear the voice of God like you use to, if you don’t have the rest you use to have it’s time to go back. Where did you loose it? When did it leave? Look for the place where God asked you to obey him but you walked away. Where did you say; “God I trust you but not in this area.”? Where did you say, “God I love you but I can’t do that.”? Whatever that place is, that is also the place where you lost your rest.
