The April 2018 Top Illinois Criminal Law Cases (The Monthly Round-Up)

Here's a quick snapshot of the top cases:

1. People v. Sanchez

Involuntary confession and improper closing arguments lead to a murder conviction that is now reversed outright.

2. People v. Gill

Police had a nurse confiscate defendant's clothes for them.

3. People v. Gomez 

Police roll up on a parked car and order everyone out, and they find a gun.

4. People v. Smock 

Defendant is getting arrested for disorderly conduct when recedes further into his house to prevent arrest, police follow him in and arrest him.

5. People v. Pepitone

State has a rational basis for keeping sex offenders from parks.

6. People v. Haberkorn 

Sex offense has to be reversed because state didn't even come close to proving it's burden.
