April 23 - Ranger 4's 1962 Launch to "Shoot The Moon"

On Monday, Apr. 23, 1962, NASA launched the Ranger 4 into space. The Ranger 4 spacecraft, was especially designed to collect data on interplanetary space, but more to the point it was to photograph the moon up close and make a rough landing on the lunar surface, this was for reconnaissance for a future manned mission there.
