I start today’s podcast with a thanks and an apology. I did a poor job of presenting a study on intermittent fasting and a listener schooled me on the right way to do it. The Listener who schooled me dug deeper which is what we all should do as we "consume" the news. Thank you.
QUICKHITTERS
· The world would be a better place if we all watched Ted Lasso.
· The Russian Ambassador had a few words to say to the United States. "What the Americans are doing is pouring oil on the flames. I see only an attempt to raise the stakes, to aggravate the situation, to see more losses."
· Our US Defense Secretary and US Secretary of State met with Zelensky in Ukraine. They indicated the United States will reopen the embassy in Kyiv and we will be supplying more aid to the Ukrainians.
· President Biden announced that he intends to nominate Bridget Brink to be the US Ambassador to Ukraine. By the time she is confirmed it will have been almost 3 years since we had a Ukrainian Ambassador. Really. Almost 3 years. That seems like a bipartisan error.
· Macron wins reelection to lead France. It was a butt kicking. Macron received over 57% of the votes.
· I think this next one is good. Saudi Arabia and Iran met on normalizing bilateral relations.
· In 2021 more than 4,300 kids were killed in the United States with guns.
· The Twitter board may agree to Elon Musk’s offer.
Views on the News from the Couch takes a deeper dive into 2 VERY limited surveys of mask wearing in airports and what that tells us about the thinking of the American people.
A hero who sacrificed his life to save 2 immigrants at the border is mentioned along with critical comments on our immigration policy.
A bit more on the Florida math textbook issue but we still need to see more examples.
A limited discussion on a school prayer case that is heading to the Supreme Court.
Finally, I reluctantly bring up a Trans case where a possible speech on British romanticism was cancelled due to the speaker’s unrelated views on the trans issue.
