“A desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but to turn away from evil is an abomination to fools. Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” — Proverbs 13:19-20
“O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!” — Psalm 39:4
“But they were filled with great fear and said to one another, ‘Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?’” — Mark 4:41

Have you ever made a goal, stuck with it, and finally saw it come true? That sweet feeling of success hits deep—just like Proverbs 13:19 says. But what about those times when you start drifting from your good goals because of distractions—or even worse, because you're hanging out with people who pull you the wrong way? Proverbs 13:20 reminds us that the people around us matter. Choose your crew wisely, because their habits will rub off on you, for better or worse.
In Psalm 39, David is wrestling with the shortness of life. It's a big reminder: this life is fast. What we do and who we follow matters. Time is short, and we don’t want to waste it chasing things that don’t last.
Then there’s Mark 4, where Jesus calms a raging storm with just a few words. The disciples are stunned. Even the wind and waves obey Him. Talk about ultimate power. Jesus isn’t just wise—He’s got authority over nature itself. He’s the kind of leader worth following. When life gets stormy, you want Him in your boat.
So how do we make the most of this quick life? Walk with Jesus. Walk with people who are chasing wisdom. Say “no” to the crowd that’s heading nowhere and “yes” to the One who commands even the storm.

THINK ABOUT IT
BOTTOM LINE
Life is short. Choose wisdom over hype, Jesus over the crowd, and surround yourself with people who help you stay strong when life gets wild.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the gift of life—even though it’s short, it can be filled with purpose when I follow You. Help me to choose my friends wisely, to turn away from foolish things, and to trust You when storms hit. Make me wise by walking close to You each day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
