April 9, 2026 — Today is National Unicorn Day, which feels like a reminder that even imaginary ideas can feel real if enough people agree on them.


Today we’re looking at a few moments where transitions take shape—through power, conflict, and stepping into the unknown.


First, the crowning of Henry V in 1413, a shift that transformed both a person and a kingdom.


Then, the surrender at Appomattox in 1865, ending the Civil War not with a final battle, but with a decision.


And finally, the introduction of the Mercury Seven in 1959, marking the beginning of human space exploration before anyone fully knew what to expect.


Different moments. Different outcomes. But each one shows how change often begins with a transition.


Anyway… those are a few of the things I ended up discovering while wandering through April 9.
