The Shadow in the Corner by Mary Elizabeth Braddon

This will probably be the first of several Ambrose Bierce stories. This one is about a hunter encountering a ghost while camped out in an abandoned shack in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

A really old ghost story, actually three really old ghost stories, as told by Roman lawyer and author Pliny The Younger.
