Katie McGrainor is 35 years old and the new mother to her baby Ellie. Katie lives in the UK in Birmingham with her husband Dom. She works as a probation officer. Seth learns about Katie’s childhood and what it was like growing up. Katie shares the story on how she met her husband Dom and describes her first pregnancy. She recounts an ectopic pregnancy scare at 6 weeks and describes what this was like in the hospital. Luckily, while she didn’t have an ectopic pregnancy, she did have vertigo. Vertigo had a significant impact on Katie’s day to day life. As a result, she had to spend months off work, experienced very uncomfortable side effects, and spent 2.5 months in bed. Katie explores the ways in which this experience impacted her mental health; from medication to symptomology. Katie unpacks some of her own personal trauma and described how this impacted work. Seth inquiries about the process she went through in giving birth and Katie provides a detailed account of her traumatic birthing experience. After processing this experience, Katie describes how her mental health has been post birth. Finally, Seth and Katie explore the things that have helped her manage her mental health the most.
