Are People Choosing to Follow You?
Today’s business climate often finds a maniacal focus on the bottom line. Managers are being pushed to meet the numbers, and consequently they are pushing their teams. However, before we push and force our people to produce results, as leaders we should be sharing our vision, providing meaning to their jobs and leading them to help customers in our unique way. People are happy to work hard and produce results when they know they are working with a leader of integrity, truth and credibility. Leaders need to understand that the formal authority they have been given is the weakest form available. When they move to exercise their moral authority, they find people who are choosing to follow them because they offer a bigger vision and deeper meaning to the job. You can be the leader who supports others in seeing who they can be and what you can be together. Start that journey by listening to this podcast.
