Broke Car Snobs

Are people worse at driving now than years ago? And the future of the car gig economy | BCS Ep S01E26

Listen Later

This marks officially half a year worth of recording, go us!  In the first half of the episode, we talk about Adam and Vladimir Putin's bowels.  Bruce and AJ hit up this past week's Cars & Coffee at Wegmans, which also brings us this week's episode cover - a McLaren 720S!  The trio then go on to discuss (briefly) Subaru's big northeast meet known as the "Wicked Big Meet" which probably none of them will go to.  A certain Allroad gets some progress in getting it's emissions inspection passed, and we discuss the age-old question for old farts - are drivers worse now than they were years ago?  What do you think?

In the second half, AJ leads us into a discussion as to the future of the gig economy as it pertains to cars.  Think Grubhub, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Lyft, Uber, etc. - any gig job that has no set hours, but requires an automobile to do it.  This leads us to how car designs are beholden to government regulation, and whether electric cars could benefit from being able to be designed intelligently around their batteries and electric motors.  Lucid is set to release their first electric car known as the Air, with a 700 (!) mile range.  We round out the episode with some trivia (you're welcome, fans) and talks of Battlestar Galactica.
