Are Single Moms Scapegoats?

Listen Later

The answer is- it depends on who you ask. As a Black woman living in the United States, observing the rhetoric around single motherhood, I would have to answer that question in the affirmative- yes, single moms as a broad category are viewed as scapegoats. Many of us carry the brunt of the burden, the blame, and the shame surrounding raising children without their father.

TELL ME: Have you had to deal with carrying the blame for being a single mom?

“So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”

~John 8:7 KJV
