As defending gold medalist Joseph Schooling failed to make the finals in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Singapore has been split into two camps. One side being very critical of his performance of late, but still a good majority remaining positive and supportive of the Singaporean swimmer. Singapore marathon runner Soh Rui Yong then posted about how the overcompensation and sugarcoating has been equally ridiculous. This got us thinking: are we being "too nice" to our athletes?
