Being close to the Father is more than the outward appearance of sanctification, it is actually righteousness. This means "right-standing" with God. It means being obedient to His Word, following Jesus and living like He did in His relationship with the Father. Because being a linen sash means that you are a part of God's garments - the garments of righteousness. You can not love or serve the Lord in duplicity - we can't be double-minded.
