Today we talk with Gail Alofsin (Sales Guru and Sponsor Expert, gailspeaks.com) and Hilary Kinney (Project Management Pro, visionrealized.com) to discuss Self-Awareness and address the question; "Are You a Lion That Thinks Its a Cat?".
Learn how to Celebrate the Uniquely Imperfect YOU!!! Some bullet points of learnings:
-Self-Awareness is learning to understand why you feel how you feel and why you act like you act? Understanding of other people and how you react.
-Looking at yourself through your eyes and the perspective of you from others. Self-aware of impact you have on yourself and on others. Your little bubble of a world. How you are affecting other people. Impact that you have on the world and how the world impacts you, not just circle of immediate feedback.
-Reading the survey- don't argue with the survey, and learn from the survey. Learn from it.
-Don't argue with your performance review- learn from the review. Listen and reflect.
-When you don't respect your leader, still listen, and reflect. Reflect and realize. It will help you in the future.
-Toxic people don't serve and don't last. Filter and look for nuggets of truth to become better in that job or future jobs.
-Reflect if don't respect. Listen for truth.
-Be kind and honest. Don't do others disservice by being mean.
-Leaders don't need to make people cry, don't flex authority.
-Don't assume that owners of companies, or presidents, or leaders naturally have innate leadership skills or emotional intelligence.
-Have intentional conversations with yourself to continuously seek internal improvement.
When you know you are not good at something, learn as much as possible and then implement it (with mindset) in order to change it. Find accountability partners to ensure you are doing it. Use resources and others to help propel you for tasks that you are not good at or simply don't like.
1. KNOW what you KNOW
2. KNOW what you NEED to KNOW
3. KNOW when to SAY NO
-Outsource other tasks that you DON'T KNOW when someone else can compliment your strengths.
-The right FIT for a job energizes and elevates you, the wrong FIT exhausts you and deletes you.
-Rely on MENTORS to help you identify what they might see your future talents toward.
-If you are a cat, be the best cat you can be, and show pride in being a cat. If you are a lion, be the best lion you can be.
