We all have different ways of managing and handling conflict. Transactional analysis is a psychoanalytic theory and method of therapy wherein social interactions are analyzed to determine the ego state of the communicator as a basis for understanding behavior. In transactional analysis, the communicator is taught to alter the ego state as a way to solve emotional problems. 

One model represents 3 common roles that we tend to take in an ineffective response to conflict. That model is the Karpman Drama Model first described by Stephen Karpman in the 1960s, a model of dysfunctional social interactions and illustrates a power game that involves three roles: Victim, Rescuer, and Persecutor. 

Today we will discuss that model and learn how to shift to a new model by David Emerald Womeldroff called The Empowerment Dynamic (TED) which helps us set up relationships or roles that are more passionate and empowering, and can lead to a positive approach to life's challenges.
