Sunday we continued our series on the book of 1 Peter. We are in the extended section on Christian suffering which runs through the end of chapter 4. Last week, Peter showed us that righteous suffering is good both for us and for those around us. Today, he wants us to focus on being ready to suffer. He uses the language of the military to prepare us for battle in the fight against sin through suffering. In this fight, he calls us to think carefully because it is through right thinking that right action can take place. This right thinking will focus on our past, present, and future. When we think rightly, we will live to please God, and when we live to please God, we will bring Him glory.
