“People who are not angry are better quality people” have you heard that before? This cannot be true because anger is just another emotion and we all feel it. But just because somebody gets more angry or expresses anger in a reactive way, would it be fair to label him/her as an 'angry person'? What differs between people is the mode of expressing the anger. Someone might be reactive while someone might just shut down and keep quiet. Someone might explode with anger while someone could put up a smile on the face and show how they are not bothered. We are all humans and anger is an emotion that is within each and everyone of us. The only thing mindfulness suggests is be aware of this emotion - anger. Please note, anger often is a byproduct of not trusting yourself and not taking action the way your mind and heart wants. One of the mindful ways to deal with anger could be accepting that you are angry because something unpleasant or unwanted situation has occurred in your life. Once you know that this is an unwanted situation, you might think of either coming out of the situation or how to deal with this situation. In the previous part of this episode, we started an interesting mythological story on anger and its consequences. This episode continues the latter half of the story in which Lord Shri Krishna guides us to deal with anger. At the end of this episode, we encourage you to participate in this activity of forgiving yourself for being angry and giving suffering to yourself.
