A recent survey of school nurses found that most feel prepared to teach oral health. However, a closer assessment revealed that some school nurses may be less prepared than the survey suggests. In this segment we talk about how you can assess your own oral health competency.

Dr. Judith Haber is the Ursula Springer Leadership Professor in Nursing at the NYU College of Nursing whose unique organizational partner is the NYU College of Dentistry. She is the Co-Executive Director of a national nursing oral health initiative, the Oral Health Nursing Education Practice (OHNEP) Program funded by the DentaQuest, Washington State and Connecticut Dental Foundations. Susan Zacharski, MEd, BSN, RN, is a school nurse and has worked in the urban school district of Pontiac, Michigan for 25 years. She is a recent National Association of School Nurses Director.
