Was the apostle Paul proud of the Gospel? Yes, of course. In the Message translation of Romans 1:16, Paul says: “It’s news I’m most proud to proclaim, this extraordinary Message of God’s powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts him.”
Ironically, when we hem and haw, when we cop out, when we never say anything, people are disappointed. Sometimes, they’re outright offended that we are ashamed of the Good News Gospel of Jesus Christ. Kevin Harney, an author, pastor, and member of our Next Generation Alliance of proclamation evangelists, puts it this way: “People today want to know what we believe—and want to know that we believe it wholeheartedly.” I agree with that.
My son Kevin Palau, president of the Palau Association, adds: “My hope for every follower of Christ [is] to love our neighbors, not condemn them. To serve those in need, not shy away from them. And to do it all boldly in the name of Jesus Christ.” Well said, Kevin. Well said.
What about you? Are you proud of the Good News Gospel of Jesus Christ? Are you living your life boldly in the name of Christ? If not, remember the words of Kevin Harney and Kevin Palau. More importantly, remember the words of the apostle Paul.
This is Luis Palau.
