This one’s for all you default parents out there. You know who you are. 

Gender roles in parenting tend to lean toward mothers doing the lion’s share of the work. And this pattern will continue unless we start raising observant and independent sons and well-spoken and diplomatic daughters.

This should be one of the first big conversations you have when you get into a relationship. Talk about love languages and division of labor expectations. Better yet, go look at the guy’s refrigerator, at the guy’s bathroom.
