That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith; 31 but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. 32 Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone, 33 just as it is written, “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed.”

Summary (9:24-29): God had always PLANNED to include believing Gentiles and believing Jews (i.e., the REMNANT) to be part of the people of God. 

Whoever has a problem with that has a problem with JESUS.

Jesus is the CORNERSTONE, the most important stone in God’s house. (Eph 2:19-22)

Offense (Rom 9:33) = Greek skandalon; The TRIGGER of a trap on which the bait is placed, and which, when touched by the animal, springs and causes it to close causing entrapment.

People are still TRIPPING over Jesus! You will either build your life on Him or trip over Him, but you can’t be NEUTRAL.
