Everyday, we are bombarded with different beliefs about our own identities. After years of this constant bombardment, at least a little is bound to weasel its way into our perception, whether or not it’s true or harmful. That’s why, in the last episode of season 1 of Persisting in Color, Deb and Niara each share the top internalized harmful rhetorics that effect their work life. From how they’re “meant” to act to how they’re perceived, the two open up about the misguided self-expectations that years of conditioning have led to in three categories: age, race, and gender.
