Argentina has had a long long history of ups and downs involving their economy; since the establishment of Argentina, the country has seen a multitude of recessions (22). In 2018, the IMF was cajoled into helping Argentina get out of yet another crisis. Common sense says that something hasn't been working but again in 2018, the IMF loaned them over $50 billion dollars. This was nothing particularly different except for the fact that the pandemic has made the economic situation worse and the government has only imposed draconian lockdowns without any reasonable solutions. This large protest movements, high per capita COVID infections, and even support for a separatist movement in the economic heart of the country.
