When science fiction author Ted Chiang first got the idea for “Story of Your Life,” the fictional work that would eventually be adapted into the Oscar-nominated movie “Arrival,” he knew he wasn’t ready to write it yet. “I figured I would put it on the back burner, work on my writing skills, and at the same time I figured I would learn about linguistics,” he told The Huffington Post.
