My enormous family. My ailing father. In the midst of a trip to France & Italy and an opportunity of a lifetime for my artist husband — with news coming in via email daily from my siblings — "he’s going to die"  "he’s better!" "he’s had a setback" — I struggle to decide: Should I cut our trip short to be present for my father’s final moments? Or follow our destiny to fulfill the invitation to exhibit at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games — and hope he lives through the night?
