Very enjoyable reading.
This was truly an enjoyable story to read. The dialog among the characters is provocative, engaging and reflects accurately (recalling stories from my heritage) and richly the time period it represents in Western Canada. The story lines and the various characters involved develop in a natural and authentic way, with a nice balance of surprises and anticipation. Reading it quickly engages the reader and easily holds ones interest throughout. I warmly recommend this book as an enjoyable read - and look forward to the continuation of the series.
Canadian historical fiction
I live in Alberta, a neighboring province. My great grandparents pioneered the west. This has given me an appreciation of their life and hardships on the prairies in the early 1900's. The book is full of imagery of this time in history. I am looking forward to the sequels. I appreciate the Ereader version. Amazon was the only place I could find it. Great to have the Kindle app on my iPad.
LOVE it!
This series is a wonderful depiction of life of an immigrant family through generations, as they adjust and adapt from a former lifestyle in Germany to a new one in Canada. LOVE it!
Good book but lots of romance
Liked the story but some historical inaccuracies. Liked that it was about our history. I really got into the story.
finally, a 'hard-to-put-down' book of early Canadian prairie life that marries fiction with fact
Very good read. Perhaps some enterprising director could have this made into a movie or perhaps even a tv series!
