One of the hardest things to deal with, especially as a new Step-Dad, is arriving late to the game. Sometimes, stepping into a new role means dealing with Step-Children who are in their late teens that chose not to accept in their life, you no matter what! You will be tested. You will be challenged. You will find yourself doubting your abilities to be a good stepdad.

Your job is to ignore the ignorance and push forward through doubt. You can not force anyone to love you or respect you but you can prove to them that you want to be there. So, if you're showing up late to the game, take a moment to understand that this is the perfect time to work on yourself and your relationship with your partner. Prove to them that you are the man for the job by building a relationship with your partner that is unbreakable. Give them examples of how to love and the one that you love. It's very likely they have only seen the "Wrong" ways up to this point.
