In this first episode of the Art Friend Show, I announce that I am going to embark upon a 100-day project, and go live every day to create the Art Friend Show. On the day that I made this announcement, (February 22, 2023) I also put a link in my Instagram bio to make it easy for artists to sign themselves up for Art Friend Interviews. I invited artists of any experience level to come be a guest on my show.
I promised artists that I would help them prepare for the interview, meeting first in my Zoom room to prepare, and then going live together on Instagram to celebrate and share their art & their story.
As I made this very first Art Friend Show, I shared that I feel like this is one of the ways I am the most useful to our community - celebrating artists and taking these conversations out into the open where they can help every artist stay in motion creatively. This is also what I get paid to do - as an artist mentor I have a style where I don’t feel hierarchical, I relate to my clients as colleagues and peers no matter where we both are in our artmaking journey. I am basically a professional art friend. So this show is the moment when I said “let’s take this concept to the next level!”
I also defined that on the days when I didn’t have an interview guest, I planned to go live by myself and talk about my own art work or the creative process or share what I’m learning with my art mentoring clients at the moment that might be useful to other artists watching the show.
