In this impromptu interview with Tammy, we give you a glimpse of what it’s like inside an art mentoring session. Tammy is spending three months with me working intensively to create and debut a new body of work in her own style. I have a program called the Visual Artist Accelerator and the curriculum learning arc helps an artist own their voice, make a ton of new work, and debut it - and we meet weekly (virtually, typically) and also correspond twice a week apart from the mentoring sessions so artists get a ton of support and accountability while completing the program. I also make up assignments on the spot to assist in the goal and vision of each artist; for example in this session Tammy came with a vision of painting a wave so we spent her time figuring out an approach to this that will work for her.
