Ross Brown previously had a successful career as a Managing Director in the Banking Industry and in Public Accounting. As an active art collector based in New York, Ross has established a diverse and important collection of emerging contemporary art over a period of fifteen years through his engagement and active participation, and professional relationships in the art world. Brown has advised a number of collectors in their acquisitions using SPRING BREAK Fairs (both in NY and in LA) as a springboard for exposure to new artists. His recent foray into curation marries his keen interest in supporting fresh and exciting artists while furthering the benefits of contextualizing their work. Brown has been developing two-artist exhibitions with unique creative perspectives that will be in dialogue together, relating to themes of communication, psychological states and location. During one of Brown’s recent visits to his birthplace of Aotearoa / New Zealand, he discovered the artwork of another immigrant to the United States, Matthew Couper. His solo exhibition at theTauranga Public Art Museum piqued Brown’s interest and he has started to support Couper’s work, arranging his participation in a group exhibition PLACE/WORLD atSean HortonGallery NYCin September 2023, followed by a presentation of paintings and drawings on Zwirner’s PLATFORM in December 2023.
