Publisher's Summary:
Techno-head Artie Q is in his late-20s, still pursuing an elusive music career - an imprisonable offense in his native London - and with a bag full of dreams and a catalog of songs, he heads to LA to take the music world by storm. However, with the rent due and bills to pay, he is forced to find work, and LA's moving industry provides an inexhaustible supply. Artie, a keen observer of human nature, is fascinated by the strange new world in which he is embroiled: a twilight parallel universe full of wacky characters. Believing that actions reveal people's true intention and nature, he begins to document and analyze the bizarre behavior of the moving men he encounters. Artie Q: not a professional therapist, but an amused armchair analyst, nonetheless!
For the first half of the audiobook, his somewhat detached observations concern the individual stories of others, but by the second half, it becomes an ensemble piece, with Artie fighting to keep his creative dreams alive and proving he may just be the wackiest of the wackiest!

Funny and quirky
I had the opportunity to hear the author read the first chapter. His voice and manner brought out the funny in his stories. This book gives the reader a peek inside the world of LA movers. It's a fun read.
Hilarious! I couldn't put it down.
Los Angeles, often called the City of Angels, is also called La-la Land -- and for good reason. It has long been a magnet for those seeking fame and fortune, or just a chance for a new start amidst palm trees and sunshine. Thus, anyone spending a substantial amount of time in Los Angeles soon becomes aware of a unique, often eccentric, primary culture, and (perhaps) also some rather strange sub-cultures. Artie Q, an aspiring musician, found himself in one of these sub-cultures when he became a moving man in order to pay the rent. Being more astutely observant than most, as well as possessing a solid work ethic, Artie Q figured if he was going to do the job, he might as well do it right. Not all his co-workers were of the same mind. In fact, many of them were in their own personal la-la lands. Artieâs memoir of this time in his life is devilishly funny, but also thoughtful, and thought provoking, as he chronicles these characters and his interactions with them. I highly recommend this book for the great writing, the hilarity, the chance to get to know Artie Q, and the opportunity to see a side of Los Angeles you may never before have noticed. Youâll have a rollicking good time -- and will never look at movers the same way again.
You gotta read this.....
Moving fun. A gritty taste of everyday life in LA. Artie's wry perspective and observation gives a laugh a minute - especially if you like your humour real. Can't wait for the next one.
