Arts and Latinx Social Movements  1970s & 1990s

While we often think of research and writing as a solitary process, however this is rarely the case. Scholars, in particular public facing historians, continually collaborate with multiple colleagues, archivists, community members, and history agents. Moreover, they share their work with multiple audiences. Thus, this course will foster a collaborative and collective learning environment —yes even virtually— that reflects on the best public history practices.The Explainer podcast episodes have been created by UCR undergraduates enrolled in History 197 past and present. They allow students to possibility of discussing their ongoing research process as a recorder conversation with a fellow class-member. This structured conversation consists of collectively decided questions that will guide all class created podcast. This allow students to know more about each class member’s research projects, their successes, and challenges right as you are in the process of completing the StoryMap project. The podcast will serve two objectives: for students to share your process with the class members and other audiences and for students to record and archive their own research process in this research class.
