On March 12, 2011 I interviewed students and organizers from the Seacoast area non-profit organization Arts in Reach as well as Portsmouth Museum of Art Director Cathy Sununu. Arts in Reach (AIR) mission is to empower teenage girls through mentoring and the arts. AIR provides mentoring through the arts to teenage girls in the Greater Seacoast of New Hampshire. AIR empowers teenage girls through innovative teaching and mentoring, utilizing accessible arts programming as the platform for success. We were also joined by Cathy Sununu, the director of the Portsmouth Museum of Art, and we discussed the museum’s involvement with AIR which has included organizing a discussion and gallery showing at the end of the March of the student’s portrait work which has been inspired by the Museum’s current iImage Exhibition and the students shared there incredible experiences being apart of this organization.
