TV portrayals of fathers today vary from absent to clueless to prickly.
Dads are often seen as a family member who is disconnected, selfish,
and lost. On the other hand, in the Bible, God is often referred to as
our “Father”. No wonder so many find the concept of a relationship with
God to be unimportant or undesirable. But what if contemporary ideas
of manhood and being a father are off? What if there is more to being a
man than just a guy who is always sitting on the couch watching
football and drinking beer? We’re going to honor our dads on Father’s
Day, but we’re also going to take a look at what one of the Biblical
heroes has to teach us about our role as men.
