Cities and Memory - remixing the world

As she walked away I remembered her shoes

"The field recording of a demonstration from a divided Cyprus reflects decades of historical forced migration on the island, while at the same time protesting against present day atrocities in Gaza. Conflict is a global driver for unwanted migration splitting up families, friends and communities and the field recording inspired a piece that reflects my deep sadness for innocent people migrating because of war.

"It is a very simple track that reflects the sorrow I feel. At 2 minutes and 15 seconds the keyboard uses a glide effect which sounds like an air raid siren or maybe a warning to belligerent governments and warmongers that you are complicit in forced migration and therefore fear, hunger, tears and death."

Cyprus protest reimagined by Mark Baker.
