Using the parable of the unforgiving servant, Jesus teaches us that Christians owe forgiveness to their debtors. Why? 1. They have been extravagantly forgiven by God. 2. In forgiving them, they now belong to God. 3. They need to love both the gift and the Giver of forgiveness. Forgiveness from the heart does not mean that there are not consequences for actions nor does it minimize sins/debts, but it mean we must give up our right to get even.
