Manufacturing Dissent

Ashes of a Childhood

Listen Later

In what’s left of her home, 13-year-old Jana Mutawwag clings to the ghosts of the people she loved. She speaks softly about losing her twin sister Saja, her parents, and her brothers, her eyes heavy with grief no child should carry. Her childhood has been ripped away, and all she wants is the warmth of her mother’s arms.
